Ticket #241349 Public [Closed]

Event Map Zoom issue

I am using this shortcode [add_eventon_evmap cal_id=”map” hide_past=”yes” event_type_3=”194,” show_et_ft_img=”yes” lightbox=”yes” focusmap=”yes” map_height=”500″ ] with the Event Map addon but when the map loads, it’s shows the rest of the world rather than zooming in as I have shown in the screenshot

Use this page as an example https://eventwatch.com.au/events/vic/#vic-map-view

Also, you have a bug that when someone creates a support ticket, they cannot attach an image, so here it is in this message

In myeventon>>>>settings>>>>>googlemaps api what are the settings for the zoom?

it would be handy to have wp-admin access so we can double check your settings

Sorry, been extremely busy and haven’t had time to test it myself further.

Just tested it, still an issue, definitely not a cache issue

I just opened it in a browser on my computer that I have never accessed the website with plus also on my mobile as well which is on a different internet connection, still got the issue

Tested in Chrome, Edge, FireFox, CyberGhost Browser, all have the same issue

You still have the log in should you wish to check

Also, there is another bug as well that I have noticed with the map plugin, that sometimes it has a duplicate ‘ALL MAP’ under the map as well as above it

I tried to attach this issue as well but your support tickets only allow for one attachment.

This page has the issue: https://eventwatch.com.au/events/sa/#sa-map

      Hello,

What I see from my side:

Could you tell us your screen resolution?

that sometimes it has a duplicate ‘ALL MAP’ under the map as well as above it

This is not a bug. “Event Map Type: All Upcoming Events” shows “All Map” before and under the map.

Hmm, very strange if not a bug as sometime’s it appears and sometimes it doesn’t with the resolution not changing

But, don’t want to waste time on that issue, I will hide the one below with CSS

More importantly, you did not answer me about the MAP Zoom issue which is more of a problem for me.

Sorry, I see you was asking about resolution about the MAP issue, this is not the problem at I have tested on multiple devices as I previously stated.

As a further test, I just used a MAC here and tested in Safari, still the same issue, not zooming in to the event as it should, attached screen shot

when I look at the page its in its own tab and I can see it zoomed out

yet when added to a page normally https://eventwatch.com.au/eventon-map-test/  for me it looks right

when you switch months on the  https://eventwatch.com.au/events/vic/#vic-map page it zooms in correctly

so the issue is – in the tab its not loading fully

I have a similar issue on my own website with a tab style layout- the calendar doesn’t load properly unless I switch months

and now that I have switched months- and then refreshed the page- the map is loading correctly

does your server have any cache system (not a plugin) but the server itself?

    • By: Nigel Clark Jun 22,2021 AT 2:58PM - Posted 2 years ago - #242566

I’ve checked with the hosting company and yes, they use Litespeed cache.

As a test though, I just did a flush on the cache, then loaded a page with a map, made no difference.

I will have to rethink how I can show the Map plugin but ideally, it’s a bug with the Map plugin that should be fixed.

we don’t consider it a bug as it works on a normal page- it stuffs up when put into a tab layout

however see video below for an idea:

Thanks for getting back to me, unfortunately whether you define it as a bug or not, it is, please understand what a bug is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bug

I’ve been working with WordPress templates and plugins for a number of years and run in to many bugs with plugins, with the odd one been due to incompatibility with other plugins.

Rare I have an issue with tabs though, this ones a strange bug with Eventon Maps but for the record, I used to use your plugins many years ago with a similar website that I ran and the Eventon Maps worked fine then.

I will play further but keep this ticket open until issue is resolved fully.

the bug isn’t in eventon as it works on a normal page and from the video it works in the first tab

its in the 2 tabs preventing it loading correctly. we can’t control how that tab loads things.

you have changed the password so we can’t diagnose any further

I have done further testing with other tab plugins and your Eventon Map plugin has the same bug with all of them when in a second tab

Not here to argue with you but not working in any tab means there is a bug in your plugin, I have tested other shortcodes of other plugins in a second tab, they work, no BUG!!!

The reason I have changed the password is that the website is live, you changed the order of the tabs on the VIC page and did not change it back, without permission.

You said in a previous response “I have a similar issue on my own website with a tab style layout- the calendar doesn’t load properly unless I switch months”, so to test further, all you need to do is add a tab plugin on a WordPress install on your own test website.  Plus, note you used the word “Issue”, is that not a bug then 🙂

I have tested other shortcodes of other plugins in a second tab, they work, no BUG!!!

Plugins are different. Please understand then it’s tabs’ job to make sure that the content inside of them loads correctly. That’s why they supposed to have “Ajax dynamic load” functionality of some sorts. It seems that at the moment they just hide the content and then show it. But will only work for regular text, not dynamic shortcode.
