Simply put, in mobile design, the Seats plugin’s “little squares” for seats is way too small for mobile. It makes it impossible for a thumb to select the seat accurately.
The whole plugin looks great in mobile, except when it comes to seats:

Please allow some time for him to get back to you, we greatly appreciate your patience and thank you for being a eventon customer! Also please disable any IP blocking on your site if there are any.
yes, there is definitely such a need 🙂
Hi,
Please note that if you still want to do a change here, we can customize this for you.
You can submit a ustomization request to me at basiliskan@gmail.com or any 3rd party developers via Customize EventON Page.
Hi Peter, no need to send a customization request. I will address this. At one point we had seat map shown as just rows of seat lines instead of map on mobile. Do you think something like that would suffice?
Hi Ashan, thanks for answering as well! Yes, if we can have both options as a toggle that would be good. A seat map with a drop down of Row #, then Seat # should work. Although in our case we would call it “Squad” , then “Date”
Squad 1: December 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Squad 2: December 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Squad 3: December 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
.. etc.
As for Basilis, I think the above is quite reasonable as EventOn’s base plugin is beautiful for mobile. Having the Seats plugin look good for mobile just seems to make sense to lock this one down for our clients. There is currently too much hard-coding in the seats setting which has lead to this. Ie, the seat size and map size are all hard-coded!
See the hard coding in picture:
oh sorry, correction, we would call it “Spot”, not date.
Squad 1: Spot 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Squad 2: Spot 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Squad 3: Spot 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Squad 4: Spot 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
etc…
yes that is why there is a + – button to zoom in on the map. It doesnt make sense to increase seat size because it is relative to the seat chart.
I think the best option for mobile with smaller screen area, would be to select the section first and then select a seat in there in a none seat map format. What do you think?
Hi Ashan, we haven’t seen a + – button during a few client tests. Perhaps it was deemed too small or hidden somewhere. From our client who is serving older folks, they don’t look for things like + – buttons, on the phone, they nautrally do a “two finger pinch to zoom” motion, like all smart phones. Of course this is much harder on a webapp I guess.
So yes, even a “NONE MAP” format, simple dropdowns, that show up ONLY for mobile users, would make the old guys happy! Please let me know if that’s a reasonable update?
Key would be a “toggle” just for Mobile users. (think about fat thumbs, nearly blind old people who are business park owners, trying to use this app)
We are very sorry for the delay.
+- button was disabled with this custom CSS code
Please delete the code so users can zoom in/out on mobiles as well.
We can make these button much bigger for people to see them better. Please let us know.
Hi Artem, the + – button for mobile does not work in real life. People want to pinch to zoom, or better yet not zoom at all. Even if they find the zoom, going back to the map is very unreliable. (many device errors, older devices / older browsers).
For the same reason web masters don’t add a + – button for every desktop site just to lazily turn it into a “usable” mobile site, the client didn’t like the + – button as a shortcut to a “mobile design”.
But of course I understand you’re looking at this from a limited resource stand point, I’ll do as you say, and hope to see a better mobile UX some time in the future while we’re still licensed
Hey Peter,
We appreciate the patience and the understanding, we will do the best we can with our – limited resources to tackle the issue as quuck as we can
