Instead of “Configure text color for colorful & Image eventtops: Auto detect white or black text color for eventtop text based on background“, try “Use custom colorful only color for eventtop text”. Next try EventON > Scripts & Styling > turn off Write dynamic styles to header > save settings > turn on Write dynamic styles to header.

EventON replaces /events with it’s own page template. You can follow this guide and customize it:

But the best and easiest solution is to use /event-directory page as your Events Archive.
