Can we use EventOn in conjunction with MemberPress, to display different calenders to unlogged-in vs logged-in users?

Hi!
IN 2015 we used EventOn very successfully & happily till 2018, when the next Marketing person demanded we change to The EventsCalendar.

The EventsCalendar was not a good decision.

Since then, the last marketing person has left the organization, and we want to return to EventOn, which we love(d).

The Presales question is: can we set up different calendars for Prospective students (unlogged in) and a different view for Existing Students (logged-in via the MemberPress plugin?

Is this an easy set-up, or do you recommend separate calendars, and some additional AddOns, to make this work?

Looking forward to working with you again.

Best wishes, Peter (for More To Life Foundation)… an educational non-profit.

Hello, and welcome back to eventon

      please see video below

OOOOH we also have an interesting update thats coming soon- embeded streaming video on the event itself- I could see that working for students but more on that later.

but tell me the benefit of being a member- can members get into events for free and non members have to pay

You can also create categories (we call them event types) and you can create a calendar that shows only 1 category

So you could have a calendar for non logged in people that shows category 1

and in the members area have a calendar that shows category 1 and 2 (or just 2)

      Hi Dave:

      Can’t wait to implement EventOn.

I think your Category solution sounds the way forward.  That way we can have “open Access courses” (for prospects) Calendars on the front end, and then in the “members” section, we have advanced course Calendars visible to people who have already completed our Flagship training/course.

When all levels are mixed in calendars, we get people who are ineligible registering for advanced courses, because the description sounds so cool.

I assume we’ll need the Calendar Views Addon Bundle, or the Event Lists & Items Addon to display categories.

Looking forward to getting the funding to start work soon.

      Cheers and thanks.

      Peter

      Dave… you are a marvel.
      And clairvoyant.
We are a small (struggling) life training non-profit:
Operating US, UK, EU, South Africa, New Zealand & Melbourne.
So the Timezone support is invaluable. THRILLED.

Thanks for the explanation about member vs non member… very helpful.

You’re on Oz… I am based in London, but with my mom in Joburg during Lockdown.

We are in our 40th year of existing and pretty exclusively face-to-face, and struggling to make the transition to online. The new features on EventOn are a big win in that respect.

Your suggestion about the non-members/members category setup sounds swell… The non-members are prospects, and the members are those who took our first-level flagship course.

I can visualize using the categories option, plus the logged-in/out as required.
When I get to implementing, perhaps I can make you a short vid, or do a zoom, and show you the current stucture:

Sorting by variables will be important: By Country/Region; by audience type (prospects, graduates, advanced students; types of courses, etc.  Quite baroque & unwieldy.

I assume there are sorting headers or similar that we can implement.

I am pitching for a new website. We have an unwieldy Multisite, which seemed like a good idea because were we ever to get to taking £$€ online, peeps want to buy in their own currency.

I am praying that there may be a solution for that with EventOn v2021, but not holding our breath. Someone suggested Thrive Cart which as a standalone would work with multiple payment processors. Hope that may work, but that is Phase 3 of the new proposal.

Phase 1: Website | Phase 2: Add membership area | Phase 3: Online Ticketing.

Hope you are enjoying summer. Been very rainy in Joburg. Not looking forward to going back to the Plague Island (UK) and paying for 10 days lockup at a hotel: £1750 including 2 covid tests. Sheesh!

Your vids & explanations are great. I am clearly gonna need some shortcode help, but with support like yours, I can’t wait.

      Go well, and thanks, Peter

      as for adding countries

       see this video

(sorry been up a real long time and I am fading)

And also a sneak peak of a future streaming video on the event itself!!!! (not ready just yet but something we are developing and testing right now)

Jitsi is great because its upload eventon plugin and Boom you can live stream on the event itself- no apps no special downloads, no accounts in 3rd parties- no accounts needed at all.

For me as a Magician/entertainer with no events- the virtual events/shows I am enjoying despite the changes in performance and if things get normal again I hope to continue them- they allow you to do things you can’t do in a real event- there are benefits- anyone in the world can be the audience
