Are you using QR Code scanner app?
Have you followed the steps give in or documentation below?
http://www.myeventon.com/documentation/use-qr-code-addon-check-attendees/
Yes I did use a QR Scan app. I provided links with images of the QR scanned and also my settings so I THINK I did everything correct.
as mentioned in the documentation are you loggin in as the admin within the app and then scanning the code? admin level should always have permission.
If that doesnt work please send us direct link to the QR code from backend and we can look at some other options.
ive tried two other QR Code readers i get the same result. And ive logged into the website with both Admin and Editor credentials. Ive also tried creating another ticket from scratch. Same result.
Yes sorry you have to login from safari or within the app you are using are you on iOS by the way?
Yea ive tried safari and chrome (IOS). Can you please login and try this for me?
Ok so please try this using this iOS app http://gbdemo.metroeastdigitaldev.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=4082&action=edit
scan a code once and that will take you to you do not have permissions page, then go into your login page and login from the same browser window and then scan the QR code again.
Please give that a try
Ok.. that worked. so what does that mean?
Once you login once it should keep you login from then on for next checking and so forth. Also there are other QR scanner apps that will redirect a URL to safari or you will have option to open the link in safari if you choose that and login to the site via safari that should also work.
I am working on an update that will embed a login button on the checking page if the admin is not logged in.
problem is the link produced by the initial scan is this:
http://gbdemo.metroeastdigitaldev.com/checkin/?id=4082-4081-4077A
not the link to the post that you had me try. (http://gbdemo.metroeastdigitaldev.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=4082&action=edit). My client wont have a clue how to get to that post link.
Hey there so I just released the next version of QR Code addon http://www.myeventon.com/documentation/changelog-qrcode/ please update to version 1.0 that will allow you to login when you scan a code and after login it will redirect back to that same page. I think that would be lot more user friendly for your client.
That seems to work. Thanks for the work on that. I can help but wonder why authenticating to the website before using the QR Scanner doesn’t work though. The ideal solution would be to have the checker logged in before the crowd hits – but this solution will do.
Wonder if I can create a bogus QR Code that is used to sign the checker in before the ticket line opens, then they are all ready to go when they start? Thoughts?
You are welcome, this was a long overdue update 🙂 but your issue gave us a reason to work on it 🙂
Since we dont have our own scanner app and browser based QR Scanners doesnt work, we have to rely on 3rd party scanner apps and not all of them allow loggin into the browser before scanning thats why.
Yes you can definitely scan one of the QR Codes from sold tickets before it starts and then login and then scan it again, that will show a message saying its already checked in and a button to uncheck and you can click that.
Hope this works, and once you use this and if you think of any other features that would make this a smoother experience for you please do let us know 🙂
Well this was good timing for me. I just had a milestone preview with my client and he’s very excited about the entire EventOn solution. From the Events List, Subscriber, and Tickets. But he really raved about the ability of the Front End manager and QR Code scanning. Thanks for the assistance. You can mark this one closed.
Ok Sounds great! like I said, if you or your client come up with cool neat features feel free to create a new ticket as feature requests and let us know 🙂
Cheers!
