Compatibility Wordpress / woocommerce

Hi,

I’m allways confused about the compatibility with wordpress and woocommerce.

I use Tickets and in the change log of the Add-on I dont find any information which Woo Version is supported.

The only compatibility Info is:
https://codecanyon.net/item/eventon-wordpress-event-calendar-plugin/1211017

I’m running woo 3.8.1 and would like to update to the newset version – in the plugins summary it shows me that Tickets (!) is only compatible till version 4.3.1
-> is this the compatibilty of EventON Plugin or EventOn Tickets ?
-> it doesnt mention EventON Plugin -> this would mean that its compatible with 4.4.1
-> but this is not what it says on Codecanyon …

Right now I’m somehow blocked and would like to update to
– WordPress 5.5.1 (nowe 5.4.2)
– Woocommerce 4.4.1 (now 3.8.1)

Thanks
Marcin

      Hello,

Our test server has WooCommerce 4.4.1 and we didn’t have any issues:

Test server WordPress version is 5.5.1:

So everything should work. However, if you’ll encounter any issues you can always contact us here or in the comments on CodeCanyon.

However please backup your website before updating.

      Hi Marcin,

I am not sure that I understand properly, but why not you update?
We do not have a compatibility issue, just make sure that you also update eventON, make sure that you do that

Sam, the rule of thumb I recommend to everyone who is interested in updating to latest software is: create a clone version of your site and run the updates first to make sure they work perfectly without issues before going live.

We try out best to update our software with other 3rd party plugin updates and resolve any conflicts. With that been said I am doing compatibilty tests with ticekts addon to woocommerce 4.5.1 will release an update officially soon 🙂

      Hi Ashan,

Thanks for the reply – the only check I do before updating is against the newest version of WordPress and Woocommerce. As the releases are pretty close (almost each month there is a new release) its difficult to be up to date.

My Question is on which version information should I rely ?

      • e.g. I can not find any Info (checking always your Change-Logs) in the Add-ons about the compatibility to WordPress or Woocommerce
      • is the EventOn Plugin the one where I should get the version compatibility as there are no infos in the change Log of the Add-ons ?
      • but then the info I get (screenshot I’ve send you) would be misleading as there it’s says it not tested (! doens’t mean its not compatible) with the latest version.

      Thanks

      Marcin

You can find the compatibility information by going to https://codecanyon.net/item/eventon-wordpress-event-calendar-plugin/1211017/comments > Compatible With and Software Version.

      …(screenshot I’ve send you)…

Are you referring to https://helpdeskx.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/09045722/EventOn-Woo.png. It seems that in this case WooCommerce didn’t test the plugin from their side.

usually when you update woocommerce it would say if tickets addon is compatible with latest version of woocommerce. But best way to see if there is issues is to try it on a clone site 🙂 If you have more questions, kindly send us a new ticket and we would be more than happy to help you resolve your issues!

-> I thought this is only for the Plugin (EventOn) and not the Add-ons (Tickets), so I was searching for this info

-> CAN I use this info as indication for alls Add-ons ?-> I thought that this message comes from your code and not from woocommerce ?

-> I thought that this message comes from your code and not from woocommerce ?

Ah yes, it seems that you are correct.

-> I agree but this is much more work as just klick on update and short test relaying on changelog info that there are no compatibility issues 😉

Usually the best solution is to wait for a week or so before updating (with main updates, ie 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and so on) so we can fix the main issues and update add-ons.
