Custom metadata button issue

Hey Guys

I have created a custom metadata button that is supposed to link to an external payment gateway however when I click on it it creates the following URL pathway./

www.sitename.com/www.paymentgateway.com

How can I get it to redirect to the payment gateway instead?

  you need to add http:// or https:// before the www.
