Ticket #23523 Public

Filtering "all" option

Hi there, after launching the website and running it for several month now, we have to say that our client is very happy with the calendar which is getting a real success.

However, there is one thing that we need to fix and we could use some help.

It is about the filters. With the list-extended add-on, we manage to get the filters above our list of events. However, the drop down menu in the filters shows everything ticked and when you want to have only one option, you have to untick everything before getting what you want…

On your demo I saw that there is an option to get the “all” option in the filtering… How can I get that on my website in order to be more efficient for the users?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

      see this page http://www.explor-nature.fr/daves-event-on-test/

this was created with this shortcode

      [add_eventon_el lang = “L2″ number_of_months=”12″ sep_month=”yes” hide_past=”yes” hide_empty_months=”yes” show_year = “yes” etc_override=”yes” accord=”yes” jumper=”yes” filter_type=”default” exp_so=”yes”]

I changed the filter_type to default so you have the “all option” (I find that the select option sometimes is a problem on mobiles) so the default is good and fast and direct

      does this help you?

Hi there, thank you! It works fine.

I got another issue though… I activated a fifth filtering option to classified my events. It show in the back office and work fine in my events. I can select the new filtering option when creating an events. However, the category doesn’t show on the page so users can’t filter events with this new category.

      Thanks in advance.

There was a bug in the code and we are in the last step before releasing next eventon version which will fix this bug. If you would like to share FTP access to your site I can implement new eventon version in your site .

Hello, thanks for your quick replies. In order to process the implementation of the new version, we have to do a backup of the website. I’ll post the ftp access when it is done.

Let me get back to the first issue because my client asked me for something i’ll try to explain…

The problem now with the “_default” view is that we can only select the filters 1 by 1. In my case, only 1 region or 1 department… The client would like to be able to select all like now but also several options in the dropdown menu. Something like the “_select” view but with an option, a tick box “all”…

Is there a way to do that? Sorry if I’m not clear enough…

Eventon 2.5 is now live FYI

      >> Something like the “_select” view but with an option, a tick box “all”…<<

Im not sure what this is, picture?

I there, here is a picture of the idea.

Trying to be clearer, we’d like to keep the default with the “all” option to show all events at once but we’d like to be able to select one or more region in the drop down menu.

It is not possible with the “select” view option because if you want events to be displayed when users are coming to your page, the choices in the drop down have to be selected, so to get just one or two regions you have to unselect all the ones you don’t want which is not very user friendly…

      Is this explanation better?

By default all the check boxes should be selected unless you specify a event type term via shortcode. But if you set event_type=’23,24′ via shortcode those options will be selected in the drop down

I’m not sure I understand what you mean… And I’m not sure you understand what I would like with the filters… I’ll try to picture an example for you… The image I sent you is what I would like the user to do. That means :

1- all the events are displayed evenif all the checkboxes are unselected in the select view
2- an option “all” is checked
3- the user can select just the regions he’d like to show, when done, he can checked the “all” option again like on the “default” view
So it is really a mixed between the select view and the default one.

      Example :
Imagine you would like to purchase a car.
First you will have a dropdown menu with the gazoline type “diesel, electric, …”
Then you will have lets say the size category “city car, family, Crossover…”
      — for these sections which doesn’t have a lot of option, it doesn’t matter if you are on default ou select view. You can uncheck the checkboxes

But now you want to select the brand. There is so many brands that the dropdown menu could be really long…
      > If you are on a select view, you would have to uncheck all the boxes you don’t want (quite a long thing to do)
      > If you are on a default view, you will be able to see only 1 brand at a time… (a bit frustrating)

Now, the thing you want is to be able to see all the cars first and then select (not unselect) the brands you would like to see… and going back to see all again maybe to compare…

      Is this any better?

Yea I udnerstand now, sorry for the confusion and unfortunately that is not supported in eventon as you have found out already. However I will make this a feature request so we can get others to vote on this to move this into development 🙂
