How can I make a featured image shown clickable to an affiliate site.

  You will need to custom code to make the image link to an affiliate. This isn’t a function that exists by default. Maybe you can also find a third-party plugin.
  
  As for the themes, we have seen any clients using x-theme with our plugin but I cannot say anything about the other theme. But, if is built following standard practices, there should be no problem.
