  filter doesn’t show up on events list – only main calendar
  
  but you can make an event list for a single event type.
  
  If you need it to be events list- get the events list extended addon

  In the description about event lis extended it mentions only sorting, but not filtering. Can it do both?

  Also, is there a way of showing the filter categories “country” and “city” by default without having to click on “filter events” first? I.e. like in the attached screenshot?

  It has both sorting and filtering option and you can also only show upcoming events for 6 months and hide empty ones.
