Hi, I attempted to submit a ticket about this about 5 minutes ago but it disappeared when I hit submit. Apologies if there’s just a lag and you now get it twice.
The ICS importer still isn’t working. I followed all your recommendations and updated the plugin using the downloads section of my EventON account, with the instructions that popped up in my WordPress dashboard.
Can someone please help me in real time? I purchased this plugin over a month ago and have yet to get it to work at all. If the ICS importer isn’t working on my site within the next week, I’m going to have to request a refund on this entire product and go with another solution. I understand you are human beings working on a small team, but if a month isn’t enough time to figure out how to install your product then I’m going to need to work with a team that has a more robust understanding of their product. I hope you can understand.
I’m not sure if this is the issue: when I enter the ICS link and click “Process ICS file” I get a popup saying “ICS file processing.” Then when I click “Start External Importing” I see a spinning animation for about 3 seconds and then it returns to the popup. I’m not sure it’s actually attempting to import anything.
I have already verified that the ICS link is correct. The calendar is imported into my Outlook calendar without errors.
Hopefully this is enough information to assist me. Please let me know what else you need to know and what can be done to resolve this. Thank you.
Dec 8,2023 AT 11:43AM - 1 year ago -I did some more digging and found that there was a prefix on the ICS link that other calendars are able to process, but that EventON cannot. I was finally able to manually upload the ICS file using the link. I am waiting to see if it will follow the setting to update automatically.
In the meantime, there are some new problems:
Problem #1 is that all of the events are being imported 5 hours late, and many of them are also being imported 2 years late (start and end date in 2025 instead of 2023.) From what I can tell, the WordPress time zone, the ICS calendar’s time zone, and the EventON time zone override are all set to the correct time zone – and I have tried manually importing events based on each of those 3 settings.
Problem #2 is that additionally, many of the events that are appearing for review (and are selected for import) are not actually being imported to the events on the site.
Problem #3 is that EventON is not importing my featured image, event tags, or some additional information from the original calendar. (ex. there is a brief summary, and also an event description. It imports the summary but not the description which contains more in-depth event info.)
How can I resolve these three issues?
Hello,
1. Could you go to EventON > ICS Import > enable “Use custom timezone for importing events (override above)” > select Select Custom Event Timezone: (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US and Canada)?
2. Could you please send us a couple of examples? Please try EventON > ICS Import > disable Enable duplication event name check during importing.
3. Available fields that can be imported can be found in EventON > ICS Import > **ICS file guidelines.
Hi! Following your suggestions seemed to resolve the issue: when I change the time zone as directed, it entered everything at the right time, and when I disabled the duplicate event check it actually imported all 685 events instead of just 17 of them. I think some of the issue might have been that a lot of the events are weekly recurrences of the same event, so it didn’t recognize the difference despite different dates.
Moving forward, I want the import to happen automatically, but I don’t want it to import all 685 events again every day. Only whatever has changed. How can I make this work?
Re: #3, I understand the limitation. It would be a huge help if the ICS import functionality could match the same fields as what is displayed in the calendar itself, and also if there was a place where I could enter custom field titles so the importer recognized the field identifiers used by the software creating the ICS file.
Anyway thank you for your help so far; please let me know how to fix the recurring event import issue for automatic imports. Thanks in advance!
Please try EventON > ICS Import > disable Sync already imported events if event UID matches in the ICS file and disable Import past events as well from ICS file. Also try disabling Enable duplication event name check during importing.
This didn’t work; I ended up with a lot of event duplications. I am trying to take screenshots for you but it will only allow one per message, so I attached the one showing the duplicate events. I can’t have that while my team is trying to build the site, so I reverted back to a previous backup. Best I can tell, it duplicated about 100 events.
What should we try next? Or is this add-on just not goign to work for my needs?
Thank you for your messages, I am going to assign this ticket to Ashan and he will be able to take it from here and find you a solution. Please allow some time for him to get back to you, we greatly appreciate your patience and thank you for being a eventon customer! Also please disable any IP blocking on your site if there are any.
That is interesting. Because if an event is already imported once it should have a reference ID to not import it as a duplicate.
Or is this importing duplicate events from external cal on the first import?
Regarding #3 – What fields are created in external Cal might vary from client to client if they decide to add extra custom fields so its difficult to provide a wider solution for that. We may explore more on this in the coming months though 🙂
Further clarify my question: does external cal have duplicate events? that are being imported to your site? Or is it just duplicating events everytime is import?
Because I am testing that feature and it is not duplicating events once they are already imported.
Here is a link to the external calendar:

The first import seemed fine, but when I imported a second time it created another 700ish events that were all duplicates.
Re: #3: Maybe a feature where the EventON fields can be mapped to the field ID set by the client using a text box?
It is already recording the UID of each events sent from external calendar and using that value to identify already imported events. So I wonder if everytime the events are outputted from external source that UID value is different?
We just released a new version2.0.2 please give that a try and see if it makes any difference?
The login URL isn’t working anymore. Could you update it and let us access wp-admin?
