Ticket #251741 Public

My Events (Weekly View) are no longer displaying on my Home Page.

Site has been operational for about 3 years. We haven’t made any changes recently except for standard updates. I have turned off ALL other plugins except EVENTON and Also reverted temporarily to Theme TWNETY TWNETYONE but still get blank event lines. I will send screenshot as well. All of our events are Weekly Recurring events with no ticket sales. Just Event notices but there is a large amount of them >100

This is the shortcode used: [add_eventon_wv week_incre=”1″ show_et_ft_img=”no” event_type=”593″Β  hide_events_onload=”no” ux_val=”3″ etc_override=”yes” ]

I have setup a STAGING site that mimics the problem

what normal updates did you do?

    • By: bill s Sep 15,2021 AT 6:09AM - Posted 2 years ago - #251796

      WordPress 5.8.1.

Latest Divi Theme. (but ive turned that off and the problem still exists with TwentyTwentyOne)

I had the problem before i updated EventOn Weekly View from 1.1.3 to 1.1.5 but it still exists.

5.8.1 is most likely the cause- you gotta give us time to update the plugins as we learn about the updates the same time you do

if you can roll back a version that would be great but I will assign Ashan to this ticket personally

I downgraded to 5.8 the problem still exists.

    • By: Ashan Perera Sep 15,2021 AT 8:22PM - Posted 2 years ago - #251865

Yea I dont think it is an issue with new version. I think its a memory issue. Your AJAX call is just not returning anything.

      please try this

      Hello,

We are sorry for the delay.

What you need to do is to enable WP_DEBUG https://docs.myeventon.com/documentations/how-to-debug-for-php-code-errors/ and then look for similar errors: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/fix-wordpress-memory-exhausted-error-increase-php-memory/ > What is WordPress Memory Exhausted Error?

After finding some you can see how many memory it needs and change php.ini on the server accordingly.

Please take a look and let us know.

About the performance. Please check this guide https://docs.myeventon.com/documentations/why-my-site-and-eventon-page-loading-slow/

Please take a look at https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-fatal-error-maximum-execution-time-exceeded-in-wordpress/ > Fixing Maximum Execution Time Exceeded Error.

    • By: bill s Sep 23,2021 AT 3:05PM - Posted 2 years ago - #252566

      couple things.

      1. The site i got the time exceeded was on AWS EC2 and those fixes didnt help
      2. On mY production site and my Production STaging Site, there are NO Errors produced in the DEBUG log. Further, i have contacted SITEGROUND tech support and they have checked everything as well and indicate no memory shortages or Execution timeouts.

      Anything else?

      Hey Bill,

Not those are enough thank u

    • By: Artem Sep 28,2021 AT 4:04AM - Posted 2 years ago - #252912

      Server still shows this error:

The problem is that the debug.log file is empty. It seems that you’ve fixed the memory limit by adding this line to wp-config.php:

The problem is that in some cases you cannot change PHP options from wp-config.php, that’s why https://www.staging4.xtremebarbingo.com/phpinf.php shows 768M, instead of 1024M.

Please also note that there are no issues with the shortcode on our server https://dev2.myeventon.com/28069-2/.

depends on the hosting environment who is your host and what hosting package are you using

    • By: bill s Sep 28,2021 AT 1:40PM - Posted 2 years ago - #252964

I am using Shared Hosting at Siteground. the max they allow is 768.

But the link i sent yhou is an AWS EC2 instance set for 1GB.. That certainly should be enough yet it is not? So, how much should a single wep app require? I realize here are a lot of entries but theres not much to them. they dont expand or anything

      As admins.

    • By: Ashan Perera Sep 29,2021 AT 3:56PM - Posted 2 years ago - #253104

thank you for letting us know of this. I think the issue is with wp_query taking so much data on the initial ajax call that is just doesnt return anything.

In eventON 4.0 (which we are working right now as fast as we can) we are hoping to add support for weeklyview to load calendar initially without ajax using cal_init_nonajax=’yes’ shortcode.

      Please stay tune.

Thanks. I’ve downloaded and installed on STAGING site but still seeing the same problem. Is there a setting i need to make? i noticed in Changelog cal_init_nonajax=’yes’ but i dont see where to set this.

also just FYI see screenshot for misspelling fix.

    • By: bill s Oct 25,2021 AT 6:47PM - Posted 2 years ago - #256839

Thanks for the spelling fix. I think i know whats happening. Your website is running low on php memory and it is taking a long time to run database queries to load the events on first page load.

    • By: Ashan Perera Oct 26,2021 AT 4:43PM - Posted 2 years ago - #257030

even [add_eventon] code takes a long time.

      couple of findings.

      1.  some styles added to page put calendar inside scroll section.

      2. switching the wp query method allowed me to show the calendar.

    • By: Ashan Perera Oct 27,2021 AT 2:56PM - Posted 2 years ago - #257190

Bill, to be honest I am not really sure why it is not pulling the events. We have had customers with 1000s of events that had no issue.

that website returns with time out.

are these both located in same web server?

    • By: Artem Nov 3,2021 AT 6:00AM - Posted 2 years ago - #258034

We are sorry for the delay. Ashan will contact your ASAP.

Sounds good I am really sorry Bill this did not work out. With so many variables on back end it is hard to say what is causing the issue.
