I’m having problems understanding how the translations of the frontend works. We have a bilingual site with English as the default language and Swedish as the secondary language. I’ve added translations to the L1 language. However this translates both the English pages and the Swedish pages. I just want translations for the secondary language (Swedish). How do I set this up?

Could you check?
The best solution for your issue is to use WMPL plugin and then follow https://docs.myeventon.com/documentations/wpml-eventon-front-end/
You can also try checking this https://docs.myeventon.com/documentations/setup-language-corresponding-events/
You should be able to access with

We are using WPML.
I don’t understand the thing with the shortcodes. Does that mean that we have to add the wpml_l1=’en’ wpml_l2=’sv’ parameters to every single Eventon shortcode on the entire site? That seems extremely convoluted. Or am I misunderstanding something?
The normal way translations work is that plugins automatically detect the chosen language and serves up the correct language strings.
I’ve also added the English translation to L1. How do I remove all these translations for L1?

This is how it works, I am afraid. Please follow this guide https://docs.myeventon.com/documentations/wpml-eventon-front-end/ and configure your shortcodes accordingly.

Please go to Edit Event and change Corresponding eventON language to L2.
Please note that you don’t need to use Language corresponding events when using WPML.
Ok, I’ve followed these instructions and added Swedish strings as L2. Then I’ve added the parameters wpml_l1=’en’ wpml_l2=’sv’ to the three Eventon shortcodes on our front page yeshinnorbu.se. However, it is still showing in English on yeshinnorbu.se/sv (the Swedish page). For example it says “Featured” instead of “Utvalda” at the very top.
Could you please have a look to see why the Swedish frontend translation isn’t showing for Eventon?
Please check https://yeshinnorbu.se/sv/255458-2/:
I also disabled Language corresponding events, since you don’t need to use them when WPML is enabled.
I tried to check the shortcode on the main page but it just keeps showing this
I cannot see the shortcode or edit it.
If you activate the Visual Editor, then right-click and select “Go to layer” (screenshot) and then expand Services, first row, second columns and click the cog next to Featured Event Shortcode (screenshot) you will find the shortcode.
Let me know if you cannot find the shortcode with the instructions above. The shortcode is: [add_eventon_slider wpml_l1=’en’ wpml_l2=’sv’ cal_id=”4″ slide_auto=”yes” slide_pause_hover=”yes” slide_hide_control=”yes” slide_loop=”yes” ux_val=”4″ hide_mult_occur=”yes” only_ft=”yes” number_of_months=”6″ slider_pause=”4000″]
It seems there is some kind of issue with Event Slider and WPML. Thank you for your messages, I am going to assign this ticket to Ashan and he will be able to take it from here and find you a solution. Please allow some time for him to get back to you, we greatly appreciate your patience and thank you for being a eventon customer! Also please disable any IP blocking on your site if there are any.
Are you creating duplicates of events for diffrent languages? if you do that you can use language corresponding events instead of wpml shortcodes like mentioned here https://docs.myeventon.com/documentations/setup-language-corresponding-events/ so only those language events are loaded into slider. You can also pass lang=’L2′ into shortcode for slider
No, we are not creating duplicate events for different languages. WPML is set to serve up the English event if there is no translation.
Then do.
As you have understood by now, WPML is not functioning well and we will just keep doing circle here 🙂
What do you mean “then do”? Do what?
And I do not agree that WPML is functioning not well. It is being used on thousands of web sites and with thousands of compatible plugins.
The Event Slider isn’t working with WPML and I really don’t think the problem is with WPML!
You really need to fix the problem that the frontend of Eventon isn’t displaying in Swedish on our home page!
this ticket is related to the ticket I just answered from you. Please craig lets just keep the matter to one ticket so we can focus better.
