Ticket #209638 Public [Closed]

Recurring Events

I have a recurring event on the 2nd & 4th Thursday in January, February and March. If I set it up weekly I am restricted to 4 repeats and if I set it up Monthly for the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month it only displays the 2nd Thursday of each month. So neither of the options are working – why is the repeat restricted to 4 in weekly mode?

This along with all other issues after the recent upgrade are extremely annoying. We are trying to run a business and when things don’t work we lose money. Much more testing is required before these changes are rolled out to an existing user base.

There is still an issue with these recurring events.  If I setup an event starting on 11th Jan, 2021 with 12 repeats this should end 5th April, 2021 but it actually shows last event on 12th April.  Please advise.

      Hi Nicolas,

do you calculate the difference on the months? So some months have less dates, etc, so the calculation cab e different.

    • By: nicolaswhitham Dec 8,2020 AT 12:36AM - Posted 3 weeks ago - #210596

I am working on weeks not months and as far as I know all weeks have the same number of days.  I shouldn’t need to calculate anything to do with months.  If my event runs for twelve consecutive weeks on the same day of the week – it runs for twelve weeks.  So if I set the initial date 11-Jan-21 and set 12 weekly repeats the last date should be  05-Apr-21 but it is still listed on 12-Apr-21 which is the initial date plus 13 repeats.

      Hi Nicolas,

We have agents from different parts of the world. Would you mind removing the country restriction temporarily until your issue has been fixed?

    • By: nicolaswhitham Dec 9,2020 AT 3:03AM - Posted 3 weeks ago - #210814

I will but I don’t see why you need access – this is a fundamental issue which you can replicate on any site which has the EventOn plugin installed.  Kindly legt me know when this is done.

Use the custom instead of the weekly view- thats more accurate

    • By: nicolaswhitham Dec 9,2020 AT 7:54AM - Posted 3 weeks ago - #210867

That is a pretty lame work-around.  Why can this not be made to work as it has always wokred in the past – using the correct number of times we wish the event to reoccur?  With all these resources you have around the world it should not be that difficult.

Thank you for your great suggestion, at the moment it is not supported. However please create a new ticket and select Feature Request as category so others can vote on your idea and get it moved into development faster.

It is extremely unprofessional to remove features without notice (not to mention all bugs during the recent upgrade). This is a feature people will be dependent upon and will use not realising that it does not work as they expect. Then to claim it is not supported (even though all parameters are listed) will annoy a good many users who depend upon this for their business. I design many websites and promote this plugin to people who have a use for online event booking but with this kind of support I will no longer be in a position to do this going forward.

Answering this message Reply to: 210596

If you’ll select Custom you’ll see that the first date is initial and doesn’t count as repeat:

So everything is correct: original date + 13 weekly repeats.

…unprofessional to remove features without notice…

Could you elaborate more? What features are you referring to?

    • By: nicolaswhitham Dec 14,2020 AT 7:40AM - Posted 2 weeks ago - #211494

The number of repeats required is 12 not thirteen, plus the original date that does not count. The event starts on 11th January, 2021 repeats for a further twelve weeks and ends on  5th April, 2021.

See attachment top section which show show how the repeating event is setup.

See attachment middle section which shows the frontend calendar where there are actually 14 events showing in total with an end date of 12th April, 2021 which is incorrect as that would be 13 repeats plus the original date.

See attachment bottom section which is what I see when I change to custom setup – and guess what?  It is showing 13 events not 12, plus the original date.

Something is seriously wrong. This did not happen before the upgrade – it worked as you attempted to describe above, initial date plus the number of repeats stated.  All I want is it to funtion as you describe and as it has always done in the past – inital date plus the number of repeats.

Sorry I can’t make this any clearer.

I suspect this may have something to do with February because if I setup the same thing with a start date of 1st March, 2021 with the same number of repeats it displays correctly.

Thank you very much for the explanation. https://banyanretreat.com/wp-admin/ leads to 404 page. How can I access wp-admin?
