Some of our recurring events are not showing up...

It seems that some recurring meetings on Google Calendar are not showing up on EventON calendar; the ones that are missing didn’t originally have an event description in it, but I’m not sure if that’s why. I later added a description to the Google Calendar but they still didn’t show up.

/wp-admin shows “Page not found” error page. Could you check?

    • Artem Aug 3,2021 AT 1:00PM - Posted 3 years ago - #247341

I tried to manually import the file but it showsPlease follow the instructions in this documentation to activate debug in your site to see any PHP errors recorded that can provide insight on to whats going on. Please reply with a link to debug.log file. If you are not able to do this please send us FTP access to your site so we can do this for you.

Thanks for your response, Artem. Will look at figuring out the critical error / why the upload didn’t work.

Interesting that we missed seeing that disclaimer before – did the addon ever support repeating events? I ask because we’ve imported before and only had a few hiccups along the way. If it doesn’t support repeating events, how does one get around that?

    • Artem Aug 4,2021 AT 2:25AM - Posted 3 years ago - #247423

Unfortunately, the only solution is to replace repeating events with standalone ones. You can also submit a customization request to 3rd party developers via Customize EventON Page. Maybe they can implement this for you.

    • Glencairn Aug 4,2021 AT 7:23AM - Posted 3 years ago - #247449

Although you do say that recurring events aren’t supported, do you happen to know why some recurring events work, and others do not? This is a pretty core feature that we rely on and have used before, which means we may have to look at other solutions instead.

Thanks also for the link, when I click on the link you’ve provided, it sends me to:

      Customization Job Requests

      Unavailable at this moment!

You may check back at a later, should we decide to bring back the customization jobs. At this moment due to current circumstances we have opted to stop accepting customization jobs. We greatly appreciate your understanding. As an alternative, you may seek 3rd party developers via www.fiverr.com or www.upwork.com

Unfortunately, customization job requests aren’t available at the moment.

As for repeating events. We need to fix the critical error so I can check which repeating events fail to import.

    • Artem Aug 10,2021 AT 2:16AM - Posted 3 years ago - #248027

Please go to https://glencairn.ca/wp-admin/admin.php?page=evoics&tab=evoics_1 > set Import Method to Manual import from ICS file URL. Now try to import it.

    • Artem Aug 11,2021 AT 5:43AM - Posted 3 years ago - #248130

There is still issue when you select “Import Method: Manual import from ICS file URL”. And you use “Import Method: Manual import by uploading ICS File”?

    • Artem Aug 11,2021 AT 5:50AM - Posted 3 years ago - #248132

As for the repeating events issue. Could you try going to EventON Settings > ICS Import > disable Enable duplication event name check during importing?

It seems that EventON can import repeating events but not when they have different times. For example, Library Hours can start at 11:30am or 2pm, but EventON imports it as 11:30am event.

    • Glencairn Aug 11,2021 AT 6:42AM - Posted 3 years ago - #248142

Thanks, I have toggled that off, if I do that and import again, will existing one-time events be duplicated and published (if auto-publish is on)?

The recurring ones that only have one time (ie. Table Tennis on Mondays at 10am) shouldn’t be a conflict then but it still doesn’t show up (see the bottom of this page for recurring events that should be showing starting Sep 14).

And yes, I did use the Import Method: Manual Import by Uploading ICS File, selected my file and clicked the “Upload .ICS file” button,  and then saw that screen that I attached above.

      Thanks for investigating for us!

    • Artem Aug 13,2021 AT 1:05PM - Posted 3 years ago - #248517

ICS Importer looks for UIDs from the .ics file and then makes sure that event aren’t duplicating.

I re-imported Table Tennis (only 2 dates) and it imported 2 dates correctly. Could you check?

    • Glencairn Aug 16,2021 AT 7:31PM - Posted 3 years ago - #248772

Were you able to import the file successfully?

The Table Tennis for those two dates are correct; however, it is a weekly recurring event, but it only seems to have repeated once. How do I get it to repeat weekly?

Also, why is it that inside the (each) event, the location is repeated twice?

      Thanks!

      Hey,

When u import, you need to make it as a repeatable event, else it can’t function as one

    • Glencairn Aug 19,2021 AT 11:46AM - Posted 3 years ago - #249074

Thanks, would you kindly show/explain to me how to go about doing that? When we import, it publishes automatically so is that possible for me to catch it before it publishes?

    • Artem Aug 19,2021 AT 12:36PM - Posted 3 years ago - #249095

      Hey,

Yes it can, but you would need to create the correct option for this, by hooking to the function

    • Glencairn Aug 24,2021 AT 7:01PM - Posted 3 years ago - #249697

Okay, how do I do that, please?

Also, when I go into the Events itself, I see it as a Weekly recurring event, but it only shows up twice in the calendar (see attachment) – also, why twice, but not repeated or just once?

    • Artem Aug 25,2021 AT 10:10AM - Posted 3 years ago - #249784

This is because I only imported two repeats. Please delete these two https://helpdeskx.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/24190138/Capture-1.png (from Trash as well) and then import.

Also, why is it that inside the (each) event, the location is repeated twice?

This because EventON imports Location Address as Name and Address. You can either change it from wp-admin > Events > Event Location > Edit or hide it with one of these CSSs:

      .eventon_events_list .eventon_list_event .event_description p.evo_location_address { display: none !important }

      .eventon_events_list .eventon_list_event .event_description p.evo_location_name { display: none !important }

“you would need to create the correct option for this, by hooking to the function”

How do I do that please?

I also deleted the Table Tennis as instructed and reimported, which seems to be working fine again now and the calendar shows more events now too, thank you. However, we seem to be missing a series of Pickleball-BeginnersPlus in the calendar on Wednesdays and another Pickleball-All Levels on Fridays

      Hi,
Geat thank u foe letting us know that it is fixed

    • Glencairn Aug 31,2021 AT 9:47PM - Posted 3 years ago - #250649

Well, no, it is not completely fixed; we are still missing recurring events and I’m not sure why or how to fix that. I don’t know how to “hook it to the function” as described above.

Our renewal is due in 2 days, and while I would like to support you gladly, we are considering other plugins/solutions because things sort of work but we have no idea why that is often times. I do hope that we can continue to get great support as we have in the past, instead of vague answers.

      Thank you!

      Hi,

Issues that are happening and it may take us time to solve, is because they are not happening for everyone and we have to deal with those issues.

Unfortunately, if they are specific, we do need time to solve so we do appreciate your patience while it take us time.

    • Glencairn Sep 1,2021 AT 7:31AM - Posted 3 years ago - #250711

Glad to hear that – so does that mean you’re looking into why we’re missing some events but have others? Thank you very much.

    • Artem Sep 2,2021 AT 3:50AM - Posted 3 years ago - #250829

Sorry about that. The problem is the same as with “Table Tennis”. You need to remove them (from Trash as well) and them re-import the again:

    • Artem Sep 2,2021 AT 3:53AM - Posted 3 years ago - #250831

So you can either delete everything and then re-import using “Import Method: Manual import by uploading ICS File” or do it one by one.

    • Glencairn Oct 1,2021 AT 7:49AM - Posted 3 years ago - #253337

Do I have to do that each time for every recurring event that doesn’t show up? Why do say Little Lights not show up (even though it says “Weekly” in the event and in the event tag) but things like “Jr. Youth” shows up as a recurring event just fine?

    • Artem Oct 4,2021 AT 1:01PM - Posted 3 years ago - #253506

      Hello,

Not with disabled “Enable duplication event name check during importing” setting. Could you also try to disabling “Sync already imported events if event UID matches in the ICS file”?
