Time zone issue still exists with the 5.9 update

the site is and this link is to the calendar page https://www.americank9country.com/about-us/news-events/

Client had to manually fix a number of events because they defaulted to a Midway Samoa timezone, I have the time of te wordpress site in general to New York Eastern time. I have the settings in eventon set to Eastern time, I have apply default timezone to all events toggled to on.

note customer fixed all events because the people she has as customers rely on the accuracy of the events calendar, I can change this even if needed to the Samoan timezone CATS CPE Trial which march 23 as its a little bit away could changed, but there is something that occurred with the 5.8 update and not fixed in the 5.9

      thanks

      Hello,

Could you please create a test event, so we can take a look at the issue? You can make it Draft, so we can then change it to Published.

Note this occurred with all the pre designated events which she schedules out almost a year in advance. It was not for a newly created event but I will have her create one as she always does. I am also attaching a screen shot from the day her and I noticed the issue from one of the events, as you can see it was set to New York time when she made the event but the calendar time zone setting defaulted to midway

      Hi Nathan,

Please clear both your site and browser cache and then check if the issue persists

My question to clearing browser and cache how does that change the fact that everything was corrected manually? Also were any settings changed when you accessed the settings or?

    • Artem Feb 9,2024 AT 5:22AM - Posted 1 year ago - #340503

I didn’t do anything from my side. Maybe this happened because of cache plugin?

    • Etienne Brochu Feb 9,2024 AT 7:56AM - Posted 1 year ago - #340518

      Hi,

I personally don’t think it is cache problem. I did flush the cash and nothing changed.

On my site, I have the right time zone everywhere, all others plugin are disable and it is still adding couple hours in the checkout page.

It is very important to fix this problem fast !

      Thanks !

      Etienne Brochu,

Could you create a new ticket with included login info?

The initial issues was distinctly caused by updating the plugin to 5.8 so a cache is not what caused it, the 5.9 version can not be confirmed to have worked for 2 reasons please follow the logic.

      • 1 The issue caused many of the events made long in advance to have wrong timezone. Setting the time zone default to New York Eastern in The eventon settings fix the majority of the issues prior to 5.9 being created and implemented.
      • 2 Once implemented the client had to still manually change several events to the New York Eastern time.

Finally how can i know that the issue is fixed if the issue wasnt noticed when new events were being created that is why I want to understand what went wrong in the first place so i can understand how it was fixed, in turn know that it wont occur again. This client is very difficult to deal with so knowing that is corrected is key.

I also noticed that when I generate a list as a shortcode, for example, it doesn’t load any data at all. Both on standard pages and on pages built with the Newspaper Composer.
So I would probably have to uninstall the program completely – but I don’t want to lose my data and the colors – and just reinstall eventon completely. Then the standard paths should be restored so that the calendar is displayed normally again on other than just the calendar page.

The timezone on this screenshot is from EventON > Time Settings > Timezone.

At this moment, do you have any events with the issue, so we can take a look at it?

    • nathan ball Feb 12,2024 AT 10:04PM - Posted 1 year ago - #340746

Artem: In fact the screenshot is from the actual event on Feb 2nd 2024 and as I stated my client and I did 2 things to correct most of them which was to change the timezone which was not previously set under eventon settings and I checked the box that makes all new events default to the set time zone of New York Eastern time. My statement to you Artem is that nothing has changed because the issue was that I and the client had to fix each and every event and that doesnt fix the plugin that just shows how to correct it manually. Client can not have a site full of incorrect information as it is vital to running their business.

So again how do i know that this is fixed. I also have another client using the plugin and I do not want to update anything unless it is fixed.

      thanks

      nate

The thing is that none of our customers have reported this issue. First of please wait for 4.6 version that should be available very soon. Then instead of updating the live server, please try creating a staging one and update it there first.

    • nathan ball Feb 14,2024 AT 1:20PM - Posted 1 year ago - #340967

I will wait for the update but client has a live site that has been using this for a long time. They are not going to want to pay for my time creating a backup version on my server and working it out in 2 locations, I can see what version if i even have it installed is on the original dev site

If EventON 4.5.4 works for your other client, please don’t update it yet.

It’s just the issue you described in the ticket I believe is related to the cache.
