Visitors can exceed RSVP capacity by adding guests.

We are using RSVP and have a maximum capacity set for attendees. When a visitor RSVPs for the event, they can force the event over its capacity limit by inviting guests.

For example, my event has a maximum RSVP capacity set at 22 attendees. George RSVPs as attendee #22, but also invites two guests, raising the final attendee count to 24. The event is now exceeding its capacity.

Is there any way to prevent this?

      Hello,

I updated to EventON 2.8.4 and EventOn RSVP 2.6.7 and tested the results locally. The problem has not been solved. Here is a detailed explanation:

      1. I tested an event with a maximum capacity of 30 guests and RSVP’d as guest #29.
      2. I edited my reservation and added two guests. The edit was approved.
      3. From the attached screenshot, you can see that the total guest count is 31, despite a 30-guest capacity.
      4. I edited my reservation and added two more guests. This edit was also approved.
      5. From the attached screenshot, you can now see that the event capacity has been exceeded by 3.

Is this a bug, or is there a setting we can change to correct it?

On our test server it shows this error message:

Please try yourself on this event http://dev2.myeventon.com/events/rsvp-test/ where Total Event RSVP capacity is 1.

Could you try actions from Dec 27,2019 AT 11:33AM – Posted 2 Days Ago – #155841 on a new event?

Could you also try the instructions mentioned in this documentation?

      Hi Artem,

Please watch this video, in which I demonstrate exactly the same problem, that I previously explained in detail, on your own demo system.  To be clear, EventOn RSVP will product a “Limit Exceeded” error if I add too many guests all at once in the form. But if I add them one at a time, I can trick the system into overbooking. Please advise.

      Hey Elliot,

So adding like 5 by pressing fine returns error but if you add quantity one by one it works properly?

    • Elliot Toman Dec 30,2019 AT 10:01AM - Posted 5 years ago - #156107

      Hi Basilis,

It sounds like you have it backwards. The form functions properly by returning an error if a number of guests are added at one time that exceeds the event’s capacity. For example, if the maximum remaining capacity is “2,” and “6” is entered in the Attendees field, the correct error is returned. But if the RSVP is edited multiple times, and each time a single new guest is added, the form does not work properly; it does not return an error, even if the maximum capacity is exceeded. Please watch the video again, since that demonstrates the issue clearly.

      Hi Basilis,

Has any progress been made in troubleshooting this bug?

      Thanks!

Hello there elliot the site you shared is running an old version of RSVP where this error was not fixed.

With the latest version 2.6.7 you should not see this issue. Once you update to new version make sure you clear cache so the new javascript files are loaded, may be thats why the issues was visible in new version as well. Try that and it that does not work let us know and i will see what else we can do. Because on our end editing RSVP and increase count gives an error if its over available cap

      Hi Ashan,

After testing the update on another environment, this issue appears to be corrected. Thanks.
