What we need is called an ICAL feed or ICS feed (not file download)
This plugin seems to be doing this
https://wordpress.org/plugins/ical-feeds/
Sadly this hasn’t been updated so we can’t use it or test it.

Out’r customer want visitors to be able to subscribe to the event on calendar to their own calendar (Google, Outlook) by using the
“add an internet calendar ” and a URL ending in .ics
Can you explain this a little more please? I wasn’t able to understand clearly what you were trying to achieve.
Please send us wp-admin access to your site as a private message for us to further assist your situation.

New version update will not affect the customization work. All custom work will be kept in a separate plugin. So, it will not be erased if there is a new update of the plugin.
Hi,
It is working. 🙂
Thank you very much for your help.
Have a nice day!
Please switch to February 2020 to check my event. I also created a new one in January.
Now when I try to open the event page, it opens but the error page appears.
