Ok, I installed WP Mail SMTP, and then got with SiteGround support (the web host), who walked me through the process to configure the “other SMTP” settings correctly for their servers. The email test function within the WP Mail SMTP Plugin worked successfully, sending me an email confirmation telling me that the plugin is configured correctly.

I then tried setting up a new test event, but it still does not work. However, I get this error when trying (generated from the WP Mail SMTP plugin):

EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v1.8.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

Mailer: Other SMTP
PHPMailer was able to connect to SMTP server but failed while trying to send an email.

So the WP Mail SMTP plugin works as configured, but EventON notifications still cannot be sent.

SiteGround has asked if there is an API or an IP address for your service that they might need to whitelist on their end.

The website has always sent email notifications for all sorts of things on the site (order confirmation emails from WooCommerce, contact forms, membership signups, etc. ) All those have always worked without fail. There’s something different about EventON event notifications that fail at this point. I hope we can sort this out.

What next?

Please try adding this to the shortcode:

currentuser=”yes”

This will show events from only the current logged-in user, if not logged in will use above user IDs or revert to all users.

Hello,

Please go to EventON > Events Paging > check if “Stop using eventON single event template for single event pages” is disabled.

Could you please try the instructions mentioned in this documentation to make sure your issue is indeed coming from eventon.

Awesome. Not sure how you fixed it, but thanks!

What did I do wrong (so that I don’t do it again)?>
