This setting: ux_val=”4a” appears to make the event itself open from the list view to a view of the event also on my site; what I’m hoping for is a way to have the external links within individual events to OTHER sites open in a new window/tab. I see that I can do on a per-link level, but with our large catalog of events, what I’m hoping for is a universal setting for all of our external links in all of our events. Does that make sense?
If that’s not possible at this time, that’s OK — can we file this as a future feature request?

Good news Josh discovered a solution for this. Kindly apply this patch fix code in to your code and we will also include this in the next version update to eventON.
