Since you selected https://staging.canadianevents.ca/wp-admin/admin.php?page=eventon#eventon_social > Select eventTop style: Immersive Flow, the background if white and cannot be changed.
I set Select eventTop style: Colorful, so the background is grey (taken from Edit Event > Event Color).
If you want to be able to select the color from Appearance, you need to select Select eventTop style: Clean White.
Updated to 4.4.7 – works fine.

You mean .evo_item_shortcodes() , change to: .data(‘sc’),
the search result is the same….

Could you go to EventON > Scripts > enable Load eventON scripts and styles only on eventON pages: Load all eventON scripts/styles to page headers, where eventON is used?
But the best solution is to use a cache plugin that can minimize and combine all css files in one.
Could you go to Edit Event > make sure that the external link is full and includes http(s)://?
